The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change. Social Media Reaction Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing because of the remapping. The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms. They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated. Measurement Approach Modifications Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. User Experiences A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained. Required Changes A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item". "For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said. Platform Context The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
