Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered many other marked cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state initial examinations show the substance was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.
An important official commented the attack left him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
